Cappawhite 3 – 13 Rosegreen 2 – 10

In the first round of the West Junior B Championship, Rosegreen were defeated by Cappawhite in a tight contested match. Cappawhite started brightly with 2 early points before Rosegreen got on the score board with a point from Killian Ryan. Then a Cappawhite goal put them onto a 4 point lead before Rosegreen got into their stride with a couple of points and a goal from Killian Ryan to go in just trailing by 2 points. Most of the second half was even with both teams exchanging goals. With 7 minutes left and the score at 2-10 each, Cappawhite got in for a goal to see out a 6 point win.

Best for Rosegreen were V Downey, P Ryan, G Cummins, M Griffin and K Ryan.

Under 12s

Rosegreen’s second under 12 team played the semi-final of the Under 12G football competition on Monday the 15th of May in Rosegreen. The opposition on the night were Rockwell Rovers. The game was a close encounter throughout with Rockwell Rovers eventually coming out on top on a scoreline of 4-2 to 3-3. This is a game that Rosegreen could have won, which was unfortunate as Rockwell Rovers went on to win the final of the competition. The under 12’s now look forward to the hurling competition.

The first Under 12 team have had a number of training sessions in the past few weeks. They will compete in the West Tipperary Under 12B competition with Eire Og, Anacarthy, Galtee Rovers/St.Pecaun, Lattin/Aherlow, Cappawhite Gaels, Arravale Rovers and Clonoulty/Rossmore. Rosegreen will be amalgamated with Rockwell Rovers at Under 12 in hurling this year. These games are set to begin in early June. Rockwell/Rosegreen’s under 12’s played a challenge game against Clonmel Og on Thursday night last 25th of May in preparation for the championship. Training will continue and all of the players are encouraged to attend.

Cul Camp

The Kellogg’s Cul Camp will take place in Rosegreen from the 10th to the 14th of July, those wishing to participate can register online. Further information will issue in the coming weeks.

Under 14s

Rockwell / Rosegreen’s under 14’s played the semi-final of the West Tipperary Under 14B football competition on Monday the 22nd of May. The opposition was another combination of Aherlow/Lattin. The game was played in Sean Treacy Park and was refereed refereed by Richie O’ Connor. Rockwell/Rosegreen proved far too strong on the night coming out emphatic winners on a scoreline of 5-12 to 1-2. Rockwell/Rosegreen have now qualified for the West Final in which they will play Cappawhite Gaels who defeated Cashel King Cormacs in the other semi-final. The final is scheduled to take place on Wednesday evening the 31st of May in Sean Treacy Park. These teams have met on two occasions previously this year with one victory each, so an exciting final awaits.

Under 16s

Rockwell / Rosegreen’s under 16’s are set to begin the hurling competition in early July due to the Junior Certificate. They will compete in the B competition with Clonoulty/Rossmore, Emly/Treacys, Lattin/Aherlow and Arravale Rovers.

Rockwell / Rosegreen’s under 15’s competed in a hurling tournament on Saturday the 27th of May at Moyle Rovers grounds in Clonmel. They played three games winning two and losing one. Rockwell / Rosegreen defeated Boherlahan/Dualla and Moyle Rovers but came up short against a strong Lismore side. It was a difficult day for hurling with rain and wind but all of the players gave a good account of themselves and had an enjoyable day.

Corn O’ Laoghaire Under 17B

Cashel Community School played the final of the Corn O’ Laoghaire Under 17B competition on Monday the 15th of May in Templemore. Cashel Community School had qualified to play Borrisokane in the final. The game was a tight affair with Cashel Community School finally coming out on top by a two point margin. Rosegreen were well represented on this panel by Christopher Geraghty, Brian Og O’ Dwyer, Charlie Costello and the captain of the team Mark Downey. Well done to all the panel on winning a Hurling County Final for Cashel Community School and sincere thanks to both Brendan Ryan and Eoin Ryan for training and managing the team.
