Rosegreen Juvenile GAA Update

Rockwell/Rosegreen’s Under 16’s played the last of their round robin games on Monday the 14th of August. In this final round robin game their opposition were Emly/Treacys. Rockwell/Rosegreen needed a win to ensure they qualified for the semi-final. This game was played in New Inn, refereed by Mark Jordan. Rockwell/Rosegreen proved too strong for Emly/Treacys winning eventually on a score line of 3-17 to 1-10. This ensured that Rockwell/Rosegreen had qualified for the semi-final where they will play Arravale Rovers. This game is scheduled to take place on Saturday the 2nd of September in Golden at 2pm. The winners of this semi-final will play either Clonoulty/Rossmore or Lattin/Aherlow. Best of luck to all of the players and the management team in the semi-final.

Rosegreen’s second under 12 team have been busy in the past two weeks. On the 14th of August they played Lattin/Aherlow’s second team in the quarter final of the West Tipperary Under 12F competition. This game was played in Rosegreen and thankfully the players put in a strong performance, eventually winning on a score line of 3-6 to 1-0. The team had now qualified for the semi-final where they were set to meet Clonoulty/Rossmore who had beaten them previously. The semi-final was played in Clonoulty on the 17th of August. This was a tight game which went right down to the wire. Rosegreen managed to hold out to win by two points on a score line of Rosegreen 2-2 Clonoulty/Rossmore 1-3.

The West Tipperary Under 12F final was played in Dundrum on Sunday evening the 20th of August. On a damp evening Rosegreen lined up against their neighbours Rockwell Rovers. Willie Kennedy was in charge of proceedings and fortunately the rain held off, although underfoot conditions were wet. Rosegreen got off to the better start with goals from Niall Tobin and Jamie Lawrence. At the interval Rosegreen held a slender lead by 2-1 to 1-0. The second half was a lively one with all of the children giving their all, eventually at full time Rosegreen had held out on a score line of 3-1 to 2-1. Well done to all the players and the management team for their efforts during the year.

Finally two of Rosegreen’s juvenile players were part of County panels who were in competitive action on Saturday the 26th of August.
