Rockwell/Rosegreen under 14’s participated in a Provincial FEILE tournament in Coolderry on Saturday the 9th of June. Having lost the County FEILE final narrowly, the players and mentors looked forward to this tournament. Five Clubs competed on the day – Rockwell/Rosegreen, Ahane (Limerick), O’Callaghans Mills/Bodyke (Clare), Castleknock (Dublin) and Eire Og Chorra Choill (Kildare).

The tournament was run off on a round robin basis. Rockwell/Rosegreen played Eire Og Chorra Choill in the first game which ended level on a score line of 2-1 to 0-7.

In the second game Rockwell/Rosegreen played O’Callaghans Mills/Bodyke and in this encounter Rockwell/Rosegreen came out on top on a score line of 3-4 to 1-4.

In the third game Rockwell/Rosegreen played Ahane and again ran out winners on a score line of 5-5 to 3-3.

Due to the results on the day, Rockwell/Rosegreen did not need to play Castleknock in the round robin series as both had qualified for the final.

In the final Castleknock proved far stronger and were convincing winners on a score line of 0-11 to 0-2. This was a strong Castleknock team who exited the A FEILE in Dublin, at semi-final stage.

As runners up on the day medals were provided and will be presented to the players later in the year. This was a good day out enjoyed by all, in warm weather conditions. All sixteen players played their part, well done to all involved particularly the five twelve year olds who joined the panel on the day.

Sincere thanks to Coolderry GAA Club for their hospitality and hosting the Provincial FEILE.
