Juveniles news

The West Under 16B Football Final took place on Monday evening last 8th of May. Rockwell/Rosegreen had qualified to play against Clonoulty/Rossmore. The sides had met already in the championship with Rockwell/Rosegreen winning that encounter by 4 points. The final was played in Cappawhite under the watchful eye of Michael Duffy. There was a strong wind on the evening making football more difficult. Clonoulty/Rossmore got out of the blocks far quicker than Rockwell/Rosegreen and by the time half time arrived they had raced into a lead on a scoreline of 1-9 to 0-1. Few expected Clonoulty/Rossmore to have such a lead at half time, but they had the strong wind assisting them in the first half. Rockwell/Rosegreen had it all to do in the second half even with the assistance of the wind. Rockwell/Rosegreen started the second half well landing two goals in the first 5 minutes to reduce the lead to 5 points. Clonoulty/Rossmore rallied though and by the end of the game they added 3-5 to their half time tally to run out convincing winners on a scoreline of 4-14 to 3-2. This was an excellent display from Clonoulty/Rossmore to which Rockwell/Rosegreen had no answer. The Under 16’s will now focus on the hurling championship which will begin in early July. Rockwell/Rosegreen will compete in the Under 16B Championship with Arravale Rovers, Clonoulty/Rossmore, Emly/Treacys and Lattin/Aherlow.
