It has been another busy week for Rosegreen’s juveniles –

Rockwell/Rosegreen under 16’s played Eire Og Anacarthy on Monday the 17th of April in Rosegreen. The game was played in excellent conditions under the watchful eye of Padraig Skeffington. This was to be Rockwell/Rosegreen’s last competitive game prior to the West Under 16B Football final, scheduled for Monday the 1st of May. Rockwell/Rosegreen proved too strong for Anacarthy on the night winning eventually on a scoreline of 3-7 to 2-4. The lads are now preparing for the West final, where they will meet the winners of Clonoulty/Rossmore and Emly/Treacys who meet in the semi-final. It will be an important week to get focussed on the West final, best wishes to the team and their management in the final.

The Rosegreen second Under 12 team had another game last week where they travelled to play Eire Og Anacarthy in Anacarthy on Monday evening last the 17th of April. This young team has been busy in the past few weeks with training and matches. The Rosegreen players fought hard, but unfortunately Eire Og proved too strong on the night. As this competition moves into its final stages Rosegreen will become more competitive, the games to date will stand to all of the players in the weeks ahead. Well done to all of the Rosegreen players and their management to date.

The replay of the Under 14B Feile semi-final took place on Wednesday the 19th of April in New Inn. Rockwell/Rosegreen had their noses in front for the majority of the drawn game, but Cashel equalised with a goal in the dying minutes. The replay was refereed by Fiachra O’Keeffe and promised to be a close encounter. The sides were level at half time on 4 points a piece. Rockwell/Rosegreen managed to get ahead at the start of the second half but Cashel stayed in touch. Eventually Cashel with points from two late frees managed to win the night on a scoreline of 8 points to 6. This was a tight game and Rockwell/Rosegreen will rue a number of wides they had during the course of the game. Should the sides meet again during the Hurling championship, then another close encounter will be in store.

Rosegreen’s under 12’s along with Rockwell Rovers under 12’s all had an exciting day out on Thusday the 20th day of April. Twent three children from both Clubs travelled to Croke Park to participate in a football blitz sponsored by Littlewoods Ireland. Three games were played in Croke Park against Duagh, Wolfe Tones and Buttevant. All of the children played in Croke Park, a memory they will have for years to come. All of their names appeared on the big screen also. There has been many stories since their arrival home of “the great goals and points that they scored in Croke Park”. This was a fantastic day out for the children and their mentors/parents compliments of Littlewoods Ireland. All of the children received a special jersey to mark the occasion. Many thanks to Tipperary Games Development, Croke Park, Littlewoods Ireland and the mentors/parents who looked after the children so well. Both sides look forward to the Under 12C Football semi-finals in the next week and best of luck to all involved.
