Rockwell/Rosegreen Under 13’s played the semi-final of the Under 13 Garda Cup Hurling on Monday the 11th day of September. The game was played in Cashel and the opposition on the evening were Cashel King Cormac’s. The game was played in good weather conditions, with Fiachra O’ Keeffe in charge of proceedings. The first half was a tight affair with both sides exchanging points. A goal for Rockwell/Rosegreen was a crucial score in the first half, at half time Rockwell/Rosegreen were ahead on a score line of 1-7 to 0-6. It was all to play for in the second half with both sides giving their all. It is said that goals win games and thankfully on this occasion Rockwell/Rosegreen scored more goals than Cashel King Cormac’s. Cashel King Cormac’s fought to the very end but unfortunately for them, Rockwell/Rosegreen ran out winners on a score line of 5-8 to 1-10. Rockwell/Rosegreen had now qualified for the final where they were set to play Clonoulty/Rossmore who ran out winners against Lattin/Aherlow in the other semi final on a score line of 4-7 to 1-5.
The final of the Under 13 Garda Cup Hurling took place on Sunday morning the 17th of September in Cashel. Clonoulty/Rossmore lined out against Rockwell/Rosegreen in the final with Richie O’ Connor in charge of the game. The game was played in perfect weather conditions. Rockwell/Rosegreen started the better taking the lead on a score line of 1-2 to 0-0. Clonoulty/Rossmore hit back with two unanswered points to leave a goal between the sides. Rockwell/Rosegreen drove on, adding 1-2 to their tally with Clonoulty/Rossmore responding with 1-1. At half time Rockwell/Rosegreen held the lead on a score line of 2-4 to 1-3. Ten minutes into the second half the score line read Rockwell/Rosegreen 2-5 Clonoulty/Rossmore 1-4. It was a tit for tat game with the lads from Rockwell/Rosegreen managing to keep their noses in front. Rockwell/Rosegreen gained the upper hand in the closing minutes and managed to score three goals. At the end of the game Rockwell/Rosegreen were in front on a score line of 5-9 to 1-6. Clonoulty/Rossmore battled hard all day and Rockwell/Rosegreen had to work hard for their victory.This was a great team effort with all of the panel playing their part. Well done to all involved, a good day for Rockwell/Rosegreen. The trophy was presented to the Rockwell/Rosegreen captain of the day JP Anglim. All of the players now look forward to the Under 13 Football tournament.

Rosegreen competed in the Under 11C Garda Cup final on Saturday the 16th day of September. The final was played in Dundrum with all of the other Under 11 Garda Cup Finals. This team had competed in Blitzes the previous two weekends. The opposition on the day were Cashel King Cormac’s. Rosegreen played well during the course of the game and at half time were ahead on a scoreline of 2-1 to 2-0. The game was refereed by Fergal Horgan, well done to Fergal on his handling of the recent All Ireland Hurling final. The second half was close and at the end of the game Rosegreen had managed to stay ahead on a scoreline of 4-3 to 3-1. Cashel King Cormac’s battled hard and this young team gave a very good account of themselves. Well done to all of the Rosegreen players on the day and they now look forward to the Under 11 Football competition. The trophy was presented to the Rosegreen captain of the day Colin Bourke.
