Ladies Football

A huge congratulations to Orla O’Dwyer and Mairead Morrissey who played a pivotal part of the Tipperary Ladies Football team who were recently crowned All Ireland Intermediate Football Champions 2017. Orla has also been nominated for a Camogie All Star award. The award ceremony takes place on Saturday, 4th November in Citywest Hotel, Dublin and we wish Orla the very best on the night.

U8 Charlie Power Cup Hurling Blitz

Rosegreen held the U8 Charlie Power Cup Hurling blitz on Saturday morning the 23rd of September. There were twelve teams representing Galtee Rovers, Cahir, Cashel, Clerihan, Golden, Fethard, Knockavilla/Donaskeigh Kickhams, Skeenarinka and Rosegreen clubs. The blitz commenced with all the teams marching to Amhrán na bhFiann played by a bagpiper who led them around and gave the games great atmosphere and excitement. All teams played four games with the four highest scoring teams qualifying for the semi finals.  All teams and supporters were treated to a cuppa and a few treats on completion of the four games, where the semi-finalists Golden vs Kickhams and Clerihan vs Rosegreen were announced. The semi finals were very competitive with Kickhams and Rosegreen reaching the final, with Kickhams already haven proven a little too strong for the home team in the earlier round. The final was again another very competitive game with both sides giving their all. The game was evenly balanced with Rosegreen taking their scores a little better, especially in the second half and were crowned the Charlie Power winners for 2017 to great scenes of joy for the home team and their supporters. The skills and performance of all teams were a credit to all the clubs involved and a special thanks to our coaches for organising a tremendously enjoyable event for all the players and supporters.

Rosegreen Village leagues

Rosegreen Village leagues for our U6, U8 and U10’s were played over the last few weeks with the finals played on Saturday evening the 30th of  September. There were great performance’s delivered by all the teams and no shortage of skills on display. All players were presented in the Community Hall with a medal by Orla O’ Dwyer who first developed her skills with Rosegreen and played mid-field for the Tipperary Ladies Intermediate Footballers that won the All-Ireland Final the previous Sunday in Croke Park. This was followed by a party for the children and a cuppa for supporters. A special thanks to all the coaches and parents for helping to make our league such an enjoyable and fun event for all of the children.

Under 13 Garda Cup Football

Rockwell/Rosegreen Under 13 Footballers having been busy in the last week or two preparing for the Under 13 Garda Cup Football competition. They played the quarterfinal of this competition on Monday the 25th of September in New Inn against Eire Og, Anacarthy. The game was refereed by Ruairi Ryan and played under lights. Rockwell/Rosegreen had the better of the exchanges in the first half and led by 3-4 to 1-1 at the break. Eire Og rallied strongly at the start of the second half scoring a goal and two points. Rockwell/Rosegreen rallied and at the end were clear winners on a score line of 7-5 to 3-3. Rockwell/Rosegreen had now qualified for the semi final of the A competition where they will now play Knockavilla/Donaskeigh Kickhams in New Inn on the 9th of October. There is no doubt that this game will be a real test for this team who look forward to the game.

GAA Draw

Draw 2 of the Rosegreen GAA Draw 2017 took place in Dansies Bar on Friday night the 29th of September. Congratulations to the eight winners on the night who between them shared €2,250. Draw 3 is set to take place in Dansies on Friday night the 27th of October.

Under 11 Garda Cup Football

Rosegreens under 11’s have been competing in the Under 11 Garda Cup Football over the last two weekends. On Saturday the 30th of September they played two games in New Inn. Rosegreen versus Rockwell Rovers was an exciting game of football, with the forwards on form on both sides. Rockwell Rovers came out on top on a scoreline of 3-7 to 2-5. Rosegreen also played Galtee Rovers and in this encounter both sides ended level on a scoreline of 0-4 each. As Rockwell Rovers had defeated Galtee Rovers by more than five points Rosegreen were now through to the semi-finals of the B competition where they were drawn to meet a crafty Aherlow/Lattin team. Rockwell Rovers were drawn to meet Golden/Kilfeacle in the other semi-final. The semi finals were played in Cashel on Saturday the 7th of October. Rosegreen had a tough draw, despite trying their best Aherlow/Lattin ran out winners on a scoreline of 3-5 to 0-0. Golden/Kilfeacle defeated Rockwell Rovers in the other semi-final, Aherlow/Lattin were too strong for Golden/Kilfeacle in the final winning on a scoreline of 3-5 to 0-1. Well done to this panel of players and their mentors for their efforts on both days and the children now look forward to competitions in 2018.
