Juvenile News

Rosegreen juveniles have been busy over the last 4 weeks playing numerous games.

Rockwell/Rosegreen Under 12’s played their last match in the round robin part of the West Tipperary Under 12B tournament. Their opposition were Cappawhite Gaels. Both sides needed to win this game to ensure a place in the semi-finals of the competition. This game was played in Cappawhite on the 17th of July. Mark Jordan was in charge of the game. Both sides were anxious to make the semi-finals, this was a tight game and with a few minutes left Cappawhite Gaels were ahead by two points. Rockwell/Rosegreen needed a goal to make the semi-final and that is exactly what they got, following a goal mouth scramble. This goal put Rockwell/Rosegreen ahead and thankfully at the final whistle they had taken the two valuable points to ensure a place in the semi-final. Fair play to all of the Rockwell/Rosegreen players for showing true grit and determination to win this game and make the semi-final.

The semi-final was played on the 7th of August in Dundrum. In the semi-final they played Lattin/Aherlow who had defeated them earlier in the championship. Rockwell/Rosegreen had improved and were hoping to make the Under 12B final. The first half of the game was tight and after the twenty minutes Lattin/Aherlow led on a score line of 1-4 to 0-3. It was all to play for in the second half, although Rockwell/Rosegreen felt at half time that a number of missed goal opportunities would be costly by the full time whistle. The second half was exciting with Rockwell/Rosegreen managing to close the gap, but two late goals from Lattin/Aherlow proved decisive, with Lattin/Aherlow running out winners on a score line of 3-7 to 1-5. This was a very good effort by Rockwell/Rosegreen who should be proud of their performance against a strong Lattin/Aherlow team. This team now look forward to playing Clonoulty/Rossmore in the shield semi-final in the next week. Reaching a shield final is well within their grasp. Well done to the players and mentors for their efforts to date.
