Rosegreen’s Juvenile GAA activities started over the last week. The first team onto the field of play were our Under 16’s in combination with Rockwell Rovers. Rockwell/Rosegreen in the first round of the Under 16B Football were set to play Clonoulty/Rossmore. Rockwell/Rosegreen had prepared well in the last few weeks having played a number of challenge games. This game was played in Clonoulty on Monday the 27th of March under the watchful eye of Sean Bradshaw. The game was a close affair with Rockwell/Rosegreen running out eventual winners on a scoreline of 3-9 to 1-11. There is room for improvement before Rockwell/Rosegreen meet the combination of Emly/Treacys in the next round. Training continues and all players are requested to attend.

Rosegreen’s Under 14’s were next to begin their activities for the year. Again this team had prepared well in the past few weeks having trained hard and played a number of challenge games. Rockwell/Rosegreen’s 1st team were first to play in the Under 14B PEIL competition which is organised on a knockout basis. In the semi-final Rockwell/Rosegreen were drawn to play Cappawhite Gaels in New Inn on the 29th of March. The game between the two combinations was a tight affair with Cappawhite Gaels eventually shading it by a single point on a scoreline of 2-3 to 1-5. Rockwell/Rosegreen are out of the PEIL competition but look forward to the Football Championship in the weeks ahead. Their next outing will be hurling in the FEILE where they will meet Cashel King Cormacs in the semi-final. Their first outing in the Football was good effort with room for improvement.

Rockwell/Rosegreen’s second Under 14 team were also in action on Saturday last where they played Galtee/Golden’s second team in the Under 14D Peil competition. This game was played in New Inn on Saturday last. The game was played in excellent conditions but unfortunately Galtee/Golden proved too strong on the day and ran out clear winners on a scoreline of 0-8 to 0-0. The Rockwell/Rosegreen lads tried their best and kept fighting until the end. Well done to all of the players and especially the 12 year olds playing at Under 14 level for the first time.

Rosegreen Under 12’s had their first outing of the year on Thursday night last when they travelled to play Emly in the first round of the Under 12C Championship. This match was played in Emly on the 30th of March. Playing their first match away from home did not deter the Rosegreen team, as they put in a sterling performance coming out eventual winners on a scoreline of 7-3 to 0-1. Rosegreen played very well on the night, but as always there is room for improvement. This team now looks forward to their next game against Sean Treacy’s in Rosegreen. All players are asked to attend all training sessions to prepare for the challenges ahead.
